Broken Beginnings Look Good on You
Shattered glass–
Too sharp to the touch
Broken pottery–
Too cracked to be built back up
Mistakes–
Too big to be forgiven
Regrets–
So loud they can’t be silenced
Truth so good–
Almost can’t believe it
Could take the punishment that I was sentenced
My past full of mistakes–He hurts for what I deserve.
I’m constantly looking back in the rearview mirror–
It trips me up like a pair of glasses that make my vision less clearer.
These broken pieces of my life make me feel inferior–
Telling me that there is no room for new beginnings because of this barrier
Built out of my own doubt – thinking the future couldn’t get scarier
Wait!
There is a light dawning in the future.
It’s not a perfectly paved road.
My car’s paint is scratched, but my engine hasn’t blown.
A voice whispers that my broken pieces can be put together without a doubt–
It’s proof that He is the One who looks at me and says He’s proud.
If you feel that moving forward is a fantasy
And your past is holding you back, literally all you can see–
I pray that your soul would know the truth
The Potter says that broken beginnings
Look beautiful on you!
There is nothing He can’t do –
No piece He cannot use
To prove that His perfect love will come through for you.
That is the Truth.
But no one can believe this for you.
Lay your past at the altar, there is nothing to lose.
