In 1958, William Higinbotham created the first video game, entitled “Tennis for Two.” Since then, many gaming systems have been created and developed to allow gamers to play more and more complex games. It is estimated that there are approximately 5 million video games that have ever been released to the public. Of these 5 million video games, we are able to play games such as Minecraft and Fortnite. However, these pale in comparison to by far the most popular game to ever exist: Roblox.
Created in 2006, Roblox has overwhelmingly topped the charts since its creation. With more than 110 million active users every day and 9.8 billion registered accounts, Roblox beats the competition in a landslide, with its nearest competitors being Fortnite and Minecraft, with 30 million and 11 million daily players, respectively. The sheer popularity of Roblox has led to these other games being heavily influenced by the megacorporation and allowing players to make their own minigames within the larger game.
Even though Roblox is facing a massive class-action lawsuit, it continues to make strides in popularity as a game for all ages to enjoy. Don’t let a few bad apples spoil the bunch. #FREESCHLEP!
