After qualifying to represent the South Carolina at the National Speech and Debate Tournament, members of the BJA Speech and Debate team traveled to Des Moines, Iowa in June to enjoy a week of national competitions. They joined thousands of students from all states and from around the world to vie for national titles in various Speech and Debate events. Congratulations to the following for advancing from preliminary rounds to elimination rounds:
- Ari Snyder – ranked #45 in the nation for Dramatic Interpretation.
- Jonathan Kamdar, Reese Kamdar, Jacoby Chisholm and Mac Price ranked #33 in World Schools Debate.
- AJ Meissner was recognized for being a 4 time national qualifier.
Additionally, Mr. Nicholas was inducted into the prestigious NSDA Hall of Fame. He is one of less than 250 coaches that have received this honor in the 100 year history of the organization. Bob Jones Academy is the only school in SC that is the home of hall of fame speech and debate coaches.
