On the eve of the first day of school, the seniors of Bob Jones Academy met at Mary Stuhl’s house for a night of fellowship and worship to our Lord. Food was served, songs were sung, and testimonies were given. Many people talked about how the Lord was working in their lives over the summer, some talked about mission trips they were able to attend, and others emphasized how much they had grown as a class, especially in the last four years.
We, as seniors, also want the other classes to know that we want to pour our love for Christ into them so that the Gospel will thrive at this school. Jesus gave us the Great Commission in which He commanded us to proclaim His name in Jerusalem, in Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. This school can be our Jerusalem, and from there the Gospel will be proclaimed far and wide.
Another point that was brought up at the senior worship night is that we seniors don’t have to wait until the Wilds trip to get to know each other more deeply; we can begin right now. In fact, other classes should do the same. Do not put off the fellowship of other believers until later because one day it will be too late.
Just because the worship night was for seniors does not mean that other classes cannot apply these truths to their lives. Get to know your classmates better. Become more involved on campus. Goof off with your friends. Have serious conversations with those same friends. You will never see some of these people again after you walk down that stage. Don’t squander the opportunity that you have now.
