The team is off to a great start. Our new/novice students competed at Green Upstate
Charter school against novices from 15 other SC schools. Green Charter speech and
debate is under the leadership of one of our BJA speech and debate grads, Erin
Pennington Harvell. Because this was a novice tournament, varsity students were
allowed to judge. We had 10 varsity members of the team at the tournament (along
with 5 parents and grads) that judged all day. What was rewarding to watch was the
mentoring that our varsity students did with our novice students!
