Have you ever felt unlucky, like everything you do ends up being worse than it was? Or that life seems unfair when you thought you deserved something from what you did, and you didn’t get it? Back when I was a little kid, I can recall having first grade in the primary center, and I remember getting ready to take gigantic steps to go to the elementary school, but as soon as I got out of 1st grade and went to 2nd, they moved the 1st grade under us to the elementary school. At first, I didn’t think much of it until I began to see a pattern again when I went into 6th grade, 8th grade, and now 12th. When my class moved to 7th grade in the middle school, the 6th graders came with us again. Back then, the 8th graders always took a trip to DC, but when it was our turn Covid hit. Shortly after that the 8th graders were moved to their own building. And in 12th grade… well you already know what happened about that, but it’s ok because the 8th graders get to eat with us now. Yippee. It has just felt like every time my class was getting ready for something cool, the thing would get canceled or changed. It was sad for me because I always felt like I was being left out, like there was a curse on our class or something like that. Sometimes we can feel that way in life, like your car broke down for the 5th time this week. Or that the Markham Center hasn’t had your favorite food in the past 30 years. Or you had a date to Jr.-Sr and now you don’t. Sometimes we feel this and think that God doesn’t love us or that life is hopeless no matter what we say and do. But God does love us, and He loved us so much that He died on the cross for our sins. How many times have we said we won’t do that again to God, only to turn around and do the exact same thing we weren’t supposed to do? God also has a plan for us when we accept Him as our Savior, so afterwards we shouldn’t worry about what’s going to happen to us. We need to praise God more for the gifts He’s given to us, even right now, like the fact we have power at home. The fact that our family is ok, and so are we. We could also praise Him for the fact that we can go to school and see our friends, and finally try for the 10th time to get a Jr-Sr date. He has given us so much more than we deserve; how much more should we praise Him for that? So today I challenge you, when you are having a bad day at school because you failed a math test, or you can’t find a space to sit with your girlfriend because all the 8th graders took your seats, look to Christ and know that He loves you, and that He is planning something far greater than you would have ever imagined.
