For the first time at BJA, sophomores in English 10 put the Count of Monte Cristo on trial for accessory to murder. Sophomores chose a side early on in the reading of the novel and have been working on their cases ever since. Students volunteered to take roles such as lawyers, witnesses, researchers, and clerks. Mr. Nic gave the sophomores Mock Trial tips, and Mrs. Klass’s daughter, Abby, worked with the lawyers. Each class hour had its own unique trial and verdict:
st: Guilty as charged
nd: Guilty of accessory to murder
rd: Not guilty on all charges
th: Guilty as charged
